Are you looking to charge your electric vehicle (EV) with solar energy? It's a great idea to maximize the use of renewable energy and reduce your carbon footprint. However, there are certain technical factors that may make it challenging to charge your EV to full capacity using your solar energy with Stekker.
Not all EVs can handle reducing power input, and charging below 6A is not allowed by the Mode 3 standard (which is 4kW with 3 phases). Additionally, some EVs go into sleep mode if not charged at maximum speed.
These technical limitations have led us to match the power generation per hour instead of at each moment in time. This means that, for example, we may charge for 30 minutes at 11kW instead of 1 hour at 5.5kW when there is 5.5kWh of energy available. Technically this is called PWM.
You may receive a message indicating "insufficient time.". This is due to the fact that our system only has a 3-day prediction, we have no information about the future after that so we make no assumptions about it (yet).
We understand that these technicalities may not be immediately clear, and we are constantly working to improve our explanation to make it more user-friendly. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our service.
